An initiative of experiential mess making - Test Kitchen is a rolling residency that invites physical theater artists to collaborate on work-in-progress showcases of new immersive theater productions in an informal, experimental, and provocative play space. Under the direction of Brendan Duggan, each residency and showcase is unique, encouraging artists to contribute to a bespoke story born from their own curiosities, performing backgrounds, and the catalyst of collaboration with other artists at the residency. These productions are intentionally designed with intensive rehearsal processes and scrappy budgets to cut through the financial barriers that traditional immersive theater can demand and prove that compelling stories and nuanced characters are what pull us into an immersive world.

In partnership with local arts districts and property management organizations, Test Kitchen has historically been produced in vacant real estate throughout Denver, activating spaces that would otherwise remain unoccupied and forming unconventional relationships between the arts and city development efforts.
